What's up Tan man
When someone is typing, should their hands float above the keyboard like the 1940s secretaries or should they be resting on the desk (common way of people typing at college)?
Good q, if you have something to rest your wrists on then elevating hands is a good idea, but at least for me personally elevating without rest would put too much strain
If you're asking in order to avoid carpal tunnel and associated issues I think that what you do away from your desk matters more. I haven't had any issues like that after 6 years of comp sci in school, a SWE job, and now i spend 6+ hrs a day on computer.
My preferred training method is Functional Patterns, if you do that your body will be aligned such that keyboard injuries would be non existent
Got it! So you would elevate your hands and type instead of typing from a resting position and than occasionally rest your hands. So more like the 1940s secretaries and Proper Dining Etiquette (no elbows on the table and sit up straight)! lol
Not sure what you mean but the heel of my hands are resting on the desk when I type. No need to take breaks from that position. I also have a pretty thin/flat keyboard so the keys are basically desk height
I used to only wear makeup occasionally, but since turning 40 I have started using a tinted moisturizer and cream blush most days. I have noticed a lot of age spots showing up on my face in the past year and now I am wondering if it is caused by seed oils in my makeup. I am using products made by Beauty Counter and I think they are seed oil free but wasn't sure about one ingredient: JOJOBA ESTERS. Are you familiar with this ingredient and is it a seed oil? If it is, are you aware of any seed-oil free make-up?
Jojoba oil is an oil from seeds but afaik it is pretty low in pufa, so doesn’t seem like a major concern. I’m sure the makeup you used previously wasn’t any better. Tallow and cocoa or shea butter are the best moisturizers. But Toups and Co is the best women’s cosmetic brand that I know.
I believe you can find it on Amazon or from fatworks. Epic is in Whole Foods. If you find a good beef farmer it should be possible to get it too. Last option is to just cook fatty cuts of beef in a pot or pan that keeps the fat in. Once done cooking you can skim it off the top. My wife does this all the time with pot roast, which yields more than enough tallow for other home cooking needs

Thanks as always for your work. On to the questions:
1. Is it a good idea to donate blood multiple times a year? Or is it just important to bleed every now and then (of course not via self harm, but as an effect of doing physical labor)?
2. How do you feel about shilajit, and how often one should take it, if at all?
1. Assuming you’re a man, I would look into whether you have excess iron before choosing a course of action. Simple tests don’t cut it though, the “full Monty iron panel” is what you need in order to verify iron levels both in blood and cells
2. I have used it before and never noticed a benefit. But I know people who swear by it. So it depends. But Its purported benefits are quite noticeable so if you don’t feel any different after taking it then I would ditch it. I haven’t seen anything to suggest it’s harmful though, at least for anything other than your wallet
3. They really do work, although certainly full spectrum sunlight accomplishes much of the same goal. Just wouldn’t spend a ton on the name brand ones, lot of scams in the industry. Gembared is a pretty good brand. But you can also find them on alibaba (they are all made in China anyway)
High cholesterol is not a problem, statins are useless at best and dangerous at worst, your body makes whatever cholesterol it wants in the liver regardless of dietary intake, and the only red flag from a lipid panel is high triglycerides (which is actual fat in the blood. Fat isn’t supposed to be in the blood)
The cholesterol scare stuff was promulgated by the crisco-funded American heart association starting in the 1920s to sell more seed oils and less animal fat
For further reading, The book “The great cholesterol myth” is quite detailed and comprehensive on this topic. I have a link in my shopping guide to the book
Good for you! Just to be clear most doctors are behind the times w this stuff. Good for you to know what to tell them when they question your decisions
Gary Brecka talks about this stuff in his recent visit on Rogan, potential worth a listen if you don’t want to read the whole book I mentioned

Where can you purchase tallow for cooking at home.

you can also get the fatworks stuff at thrivemarket

Do you have an opinion on statins? What framework for cholesterol monitoring do you follow?
